Logo Design for TS Timber Projects
This round focuses on updating the identity following the name change from Timbersmith Projects to TS Timber Projects, rather than repositioning the business. The existing mallet remains an important part of the identity, while the main opportunity is to develop a cleaner, more considered wordmark around it. The business sits firmly within custom timber furniture, joinery and made-to-measure craftsmanship, so the typography needed to feel more workshop and craft-led than general construction.
Concept 1: Logo Design for TS Timber Projects
This direction keeps the identity relatively close to its established character, pairing the mallet with a more refined serif wordmark. The typography has a slightly crafted quality without relying on the distressed treatment of the previous font, giving the name more clarity while still feeling appropriate for bespoke timber work. Keeping T.S. Timber together creates a strong primary name, while the smaller, spaced Projects provides a clear secondary level. The result is straightforward and traditional without feeling dated, and gives the existing symbol room to remain the main visual identifier.
Concept 2: Logo Design for TS Timber Projects
The focus here was to create a stronger, more robust wordmark that complements the weight and geometry of the mallet. The heavier uppercase typography gives T.S. Timber a confident presence, while Projects is deliberately reduced and spaced beneath it to create hierarchy. This is probably the most practical of the directions for uniforms, vehicle graphics and workshop applications, as the lettering remains clear at smaller sizes and avoids unnecessary detail. The overall feel is more contemporary than the existing identity, but still retains the solid, hands-on character appropriate to a timber and joinery business.
Concept 3: Logo Design for TS Timber Projects
This direction takes a more considered, design-led approach to the typography. The serif letterforms introduce some of the character associated with traditional craftsmanship and furniture making, while the cleaner execution moves away from the distressed style of the previous identity. The existing olive and burnt orange are also brought into the wordmark itself, helping connect the typography back to the retained mallet symbol. Stacking T.S., Timber and Projects creates a compact composition that feels more bespoke and less construction-oriented, which suits the business's focus on individually made furniture, joinery and timber work.
Concept 4: Logo Design for TS Timber Projects
This concept creates the strongest contrast between traditional craftsmanship and a more contemporary business identity. The oversized italic T.S. introduces personality and movement, while Timber Projects is set in a clean, bold sans serif to keep the overall logo structured and easy to read. Rather than making every element feel stylistically identical, the intention was to create a deliberate contrast between the crafted nature of the work and the professional way the business operates today. The horizontal arrangement also gives this direction a particularly useful format for vehicle signage, website headers, email signatures and other wider applications.
In Summary...
